Description: Thirimali, released in 2022, is a Malayalam film that follows the journey of a lottery ticket seller from an underprivileged background. The protagonist, along with his friend and a moneylender, embarks on a trip to Nepal in search of a missing worker. Along the way, unexpected revelations turn their world upside down. While travel and adventure themes are beloved by Malayali audiences, this film struggles to captivate due to its uninspired script and familiar storyline.
The central characters include Baby (played by Bibin George), his friend Peter (Dharmajan), and the moneylender Alexander (Johny Antony). When Baby’s employer, originally from Nepal, vanishes with valuable possessions, Baby and Peter set out to find him, accompanied by Alexander, who assists them in their mission. Their journey to Nepal uncovers startling truths, leading to an underwhelming climax.
The plot lacks originality, and the storytelling fails to offer anything fresh beyond the characters and events. Baby, the village-based family man facing financial struggles, remains unchanged until the story’s conclusion. His character mirrors many other protagonists in similar tales, who tirelessly strive to improve their lives, often ending with a dramatic yet predictable resolution. Thirimali, despite its promising premise, ultimately falls short of leaving a lasting impression.
