**Storyline:**
Seven years after the events of the first film, Johnny English has been training in Tibet to recover from the disgrace of a failed mission in Mozambique. The failed attempt to protect the newly elected president cost him his knighthood. Recalled by MI7 under his new boss, Pamela Thornton, codenamed “Pegasus,” English is tasked with investigating a plot to assassinate the Chinese Premier during talks with the UK Prime Minister.
Reunited with fellow agent Simon Ambrose, MI7’s quartermaster Patch Quartermain, and junior agent Colin Tucker, English’s new assistant, he begins his mission. In Hong Kong, English encounters former CIA agent Titus Fisher, who reveals his involvement with Vortex, the group responsible for sabotaging English’s Mozambique mission. Fisher discloses that Vortex possesses a secret weapon activated by three keys, held by himself and two other former spies.
After Fisher is killed by an assassin disguised as a maid, English retrieves one of the keys but is later deceived by another Vortex operative posing as a flight attendant on his way to London. This leads to his humiliation during a meeting with the Foreign Secretary and Pegasus.
With the help of MI7’s behavioral psychologist Kate Sumner, English undergoes hypnosis to recall suppressed memories of the Mozambique incident. This reveals that another Vortex operative, Russian spy Artem Karlenko, is posing as millionaire Sergei Pudovkin.
English and Tucker confront Karlenko at a golf course near London, but he is fatally injured by the Killer Cleaner. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Karlenko dies after revealing that the third key is held by a mole within MI7.
During a dinner conversation, English shares his suspicions about the mole with Ambrose, who deflects suspicion onto Quartermain. Tucker, however, accuses Ambrose of being the traitor. Ignoring Tucker’s warning, English allows Ambrose to leave with Karlenko’s key, unaware of the danger he poses.
