Originally slated for release on May 7, 2010, the premiere was postponed to April 22, 2011, due to scheduling conflicts with another Safary-starrer, Bumm Bumm Bole. The movie was later made available on DVD, digital download, and on-demand platforms by Buena Vista Home Entertainment on July 26, 2011. The DVD release included a Hindi audio track with English subtitles.
Zokkomon received positive reviews from critics. Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times praised it as a vibrant and captivating family film, noting its depth and coherence compared to many Bollywood productions. Robert Koehler from Variety highlighted the film’s professional execution under Bhatkal’s direction, while The Hollywood Reporter’s Kirk Honeycutt described it as India’s first live-action Disney film, crafted to introduce Indian children to their very own superhero.
