Critics had mixed reactions to the film. Jordan Hoffman of *The Guardian* awarded it 2 out of 5 stars, noting that while it seemed to have important themes about infidelity and the sex industry, it lacked clarity in its message. Kyle Smith of *The New York Post* called it a thinly veiled dramatization of the Eliot Spitzer scandal, criticizing its lack of depth and unconvincing performances. David Rooney of *The Hollywood Reporter* described it as a bland pseudo-thriller with little tension or relevance. Geoff Berkshire of *Variety* also gave a negative review, calling the film overly serious and suggesting it would fare better on streaming platforms than in theaters.
Despite its flaws, *Zipper* features a committed performance by Patrick Wilson, but its uneven execution makes it a polarizing watch.
