Description: Rohan “Ronnie” Achrekar, a crime reporter working for a Goa-based newspaper called *The Daily*, is interrogated by his editor, Karan, and a deputy superintendent of police. Ronnie explains that, with his editor’s assistance, he rented an apartment in a remote part of Goa, located in the outhouse of a friend. The place appears haunted, and the owner is an elderly, wheelchair-bound man with a daughter named Maya. Maya develops feelings for Ronnie upon their first meeting, while Ronnie is still recovering from a breakup with his ex-girlfriend, Priya, who has moved to London.
Maya confides in her sister about her feelings for Ronnie and even takes his photo from a frame. She also discovers a picture of herself on Ronnie’s desktop, mistakenly believing he reciprocates her feelings. In reality, Ronnie had taken the photo randomly during a ferry ride before meeting her. While he finds her unusual yet endearing, he doesn’t share her romantic interest. He plans a date night at a nightclub, where he unexpectedly encounters Nancy, Priya’s step-sister. Maya becomes upset when Ronnie begins dancing with Nancy.
On their way back from the club, Ronnie drives under the influence, leading to a collision with Nancy’s scooter. Nancy is thrown off the road and rolls down a slope. Ronnie panics, but Maya, a trained nurse, remains composed and rushes to help. She declares Nancy dead and convinces Ronnie to flee the scene to avoid being caught.
