Description: You Keep the Kids is a 2021 Spanish comedy film directed by Dani de la Orden and starring Miren Ibarguren and Paco León. The film, known as “Mamá o papá” in Spanish, is a remake of the 2015 French movie “Daddy or Mommy.” It follows the story of Víctor and Flora, a couple going through a divorce, who intentionally try to avoid gaining legal custody of their three children, Alexia, Juan, and Sara, as they pursue their own career advancements.
The screenplay, adapted by Eric Navarro, is based on the original French film written by Guillaume Clicquot de Mentque, Matthieu Delaporte, Jérôme Fansten, and Alexandre de La Patellière. Produced by Atresmedia Cine in collaboration with Warner Bros. Entertainment España, Alamo Producciones Audiovisuales, and Alamo Audiovisual Séptima Parte, AIE, the film also involved participation from Atresmedia, Movistar+, and Orange.
Filming took place in Madrid and Tenerife, concluding in August 2020. Initially set for a theatrical release in Spain on December 4, 2020, the film faced multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was eventually released on December 17, 2021, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures España.
