Description: Yeti Obhijaan (English: Yeti Adventures) is an Indian Bengali adventure thriller film directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. The movie features Prosenjit Chatterjee and Aryann Bhowmik in leading roles. It serves as a sequel to Mishawr Rawhoshyo and is based on the Bengali adventure novel “Pahar Churaye Aatonko” from the Kakababu series by Sunil Gangopadhyay.
The story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of mountaineer Caine Shipton, which sparks global rumors about the existence of the legendary creature, the Yeti. Kakababu and Sontu set out on an adventurous journey to the Gorokhshep Plateau, located at the base of Mount Everest, to uncover the truth. With the assistance of Nepali special force officers Jang Bahadur Rana and Tribhuban Gupta, along with the loyal sherpa Mingma, they expose illegal activities taking place in the mountain caves, with Caine Shipton revealed as the mastermind behind it all.
Initially planned as a joint venture between India and Bangladesh, with Jaaz Multimedia as the Bangladeshi co-producer, the film eventually became an Indian-only production due to conflicts during filming. It stars Bangladeshi actors Ferdous Ahmed and Bidya Sinha Saha Mim. The movie was shot in India and Switzerland and was released during Durga Puja in 2017.
Originally intended as Bengal’s first 3D film, Yeti Obhijaan was later released in 2D due to infrastructure limitations and the scarcity of 3D screens in West Bengal. According to multiplex reports, 3D versions of films generally attract larger audiences compared to their 2D counterparts.
