Genre: Comedy;Romance
Description: Carl, a bank loan officer, becomes increasingly withdrawn after his divorce from his ex-wife Stephanie. His negative outlook on life leads him to distance himself from his friends, Peter and Rooney. Encouraged by an old colleague, Nick, Carl attends a motivational seminar led by guru Terrence, who convinces him to say “Yes!” to every opportunity that comes his way. Reluctantly, Carl makes this promise, which initially leads to mixed results. After helping a homeless man, Carl finds himself stranded in Elysian Park with no gas and a dead phone. While searching for a gas station, he meets Allison, a free-spirited woman who gives him a ride and leaves him with a kiss. This positive experience shifts Carl’s perspective, and he begins embracing the “Yes” philosophy wholeheartedly.
As Carl starts saying yes to everything, his life transforms. He rebuilds his friendships, bonds with his boss, Norman, aids Peter’s fiancée, Lucy, and even takes up Korean lessons. His newfound optimism earns him a promotion at work, and he uses his guitar skills to talk a man out of suicide. One day, while accepting a flyer for a band, he discovers that Allison is the lead singer of an eccentric group called Munchausen by Proxy. Drawn to her uniqueness, and with her equally charmed by his spontaneity, the two begin a romantic relationship. Carl’s life takes a turn for the better as he learns to embrace opportunities and live fully.
