Description: Yaara is a 2020 Hindi film that tells the story of friendship, loyalty, and crime. The narrative revolves around Mitwa, a criminal who gets arrested, prompting his close friends Phagun, Rizwan, and Bahadur to come to his aid. As Mitwa sits in the police station, he recalls his past, particularly his childhood with Phagun. The two were raised together by a man named Chand in Jaisalmer during the early 1950s. Tragedy struck when Chand’s gun was used to kill a criminal’s brother, leading Chand to sacrifice himself to protect Phagun and Mitwa. The two then sought revenge by burning down the criminal’s house and fleeing.
At the India-Nepal border, they met a man named Chaman, who recruited them into the *Chaukdi Gang* alongside Rizwan and Bahadur. Together, they grew into professional smugglers, operating between India and Nepal. Their lives took a dramatic turn when a powerful criminal assigned them a mission to rob a bank in Patna, making it appear as an act of naxalites. The heist ended in a shootout with the police, resulting in Chaman’s death. Enraged, the gang avenged his death by killing the criminal and his henchmen. Fakira, the criminal’s aide, joined the gang, pledging loyalty. The group then helped villagers by confronting a corrupt landlord and providing them with food, eventually purchasing land for their operations.
In the present, Phagun, Rizwan, and Bahadur learn of Mitwa’s arrest from JCP Jasjit Singh. Despite his wife Sukanya’s objections, Phagun is determined to rescue Mitwa. With the help of Tanuja’s abusive husband, Madan, and two other men, they successfully free Mitwa. However, the mission takes a dark turn when the two men assisting them are killed. Mitwa reveals that a minor case landed him in prison for six months, during which his pregnant girlfriend, Tanuja, married Madan. He is also being pursued by Shakeel, a former partner, because Mitwa stole money from Durrani, a Romania-based criminal, feeling underpaid.
As the story unfolds, Phagun returns home to find a threatening message demanding the surrender of Mitwa, setting the stage for further conflict.
