**Storyline:**
In 1944, at a German concentration camp in occupied Poland, young Erik Lensherr is forcibly separated from his parents by Nazi guards. In a moment of desperation, Erik’s extraordinary ability to manipulate metal bends a gate, but a guard knocks him unconscious. Scientist Sebastian Shaw, who witnesses this event, brings Erik to his office and tests his powers by ordering him to move a metal coin. When Erik fails, Shaw coldly kills Erik’s mother in front of him. Overwhelmed by rage, Erik’s uncontrolled magnetic abilities erupt, killing the guards and destroying nearby rooms. Meanwhile, in Westchester County, New York, young Charles Xavier discovers a shape-shifting girl named Raven Darkhölme in his kitchen, disguised as his mother. Using his telepathic abilities, Charles uncovers her true identity and befriends her, delighted to find someone else with unique gifts.
In 1962, Erik travels to Switzerland, using his powers to extract information from a banker about Nazi gold, leading him to Shaw’s location in Argentina. There, in a tavern filled with former German soldiers, Erik eliminates three men and learns Shaw is in Florida.
This story sets the stage for the formation of the X-Men as Charles and Erik join forces, each driven by their own motivations and beliefs.
