The story begins with Diana Prince entering the Louvre in Paris, France. She receives a briefcase from Bruce Wayne, delivered by Wayne Enterprises, containing an old photograph of Diana with four men from World War I. Bruce’s note expresses his interest in learning the story behind the photo.
The narrative then shifts to Diana’s childhood on the hidden island of Themyscira, home to the Amazons, an all-female warrior tribe. Young Diana, played by Lilly Aspell, aspires to become a warrior like the others, but her mother, Queen Hippolyta, forbids her from training. Hippolyta explains that humans were created with good intentions by Zeus, but Ares, the god of war, corrupted them, leading to endless conflict among humanity. Despite Zeus’s efforts to stop Ares, the other gods were killed, and Zeus himself was left weakened. With his final strength, Zeus created Themyscira, a sanctuary for the Amazons, and forged a weapon capable of defeating Ares.
Hippolyta eventually reveals a powerful sword known as the God Killer, which possesses the ability to destroy Ares. She secretly hopes it will never be used. Despite her mother’s reluctance, General Antiope trains Diana in secret, preparing her for the eventual confrontation with Ares.
