**Storyline:**
In 1999, Broome, Western Australia, two British backpackers, Liz Hunter and Kristy Earl, are traveling across the country with their Australian friend, Ben Mitchell. Ben purchases an old car for their journey from Broome to Cairns, Queensland, via the Great Northern Highway.
The group stops at Wolf Creek National Park. Hours later, they realize their watches have stopped, and their car won’t start. After darkness falls, a man named Mick Taylor approaches and offers to tow them to his camp to fix the car. They agree and are taken to an abandoned mining site south of Wolf Creek. Mick entertains them with exaggerated stories of his past while repairing their car. He then gives them water laced with a sedative, causing them to lose consciousness.
Liz wakes up gagged and tied in a shed. She manages to free herself and hears Mick torturing Kristy in a garage, where she also witnesses him assaulting her. Liz sets the dismantled car on fire to distract Mick and attempts to rescue Kristy. When Mick returns, Liz shoots him in the neck with his own rifle. The women try to escape in Mick’s truck, but he chases them. They push the truck off a cliff to evade him and return to the site to find another car. Liz leaves Kristy outside, instructing her to escape on foot if she doesn’t return within five minutes.
Inside another garage, Liz discovers Mick’s collection of cars and belongings from other travelers, including video cameras. She watches footage revealing Mick’s pattern of “helping” stranded travelers at Wolf Creek. While looking through Ben’s camera, she notices Mick’s truck in the background—he had been following them long before they reached the park. Liz gets into a car to escape, but Mick emerges from the backseat and stabs her with a bowie knife.
