**Storyline:**
Tom and Jerry engage in their classic chase across town in search of food until Jerry vanishes after joining a group of children who visit Bill’s Candy Shop. The shop owner generously offers free candy to the kids, while Tom and Jerry continue their mischief inside.
Charlie Bucket, a young paperboy from a struggling household, intervenes to stop Tom from catching Jerry, forming a bond with them by sharing a loaf of bread. While Charlie hurries home to his widowed mother and bedridden grandparents, Tom and Jerry sneak off with a box of Wonka Bars from the shop. Grandpa Joe tells Charlie the story of Willy Wonka, who shut down his famous chocolate factory after rival candy makers, including Arthur Slugworth, sent spies to steal his recipes. Wonka disappeared but later resumed selling candy, though the source of his workforce remains a mystery. Tom and Jerry bring the stolen Wonka Bars to Charlie’s house, but Charlie convinces them that stealing is wrong, and they decide to return the box.
The next day, Willy Wonka announces a contest: five Golden Tickets hidden in Wonka Bars will grant their finders a tour of his factory and a lifetime supply of chocolate. Four tickets are quickly claimed by Augustus Gloop, a boy with a huge appetite; Veruca Salt, a spoiled girl; Violet Beauregarde, an avid gum-chewer; and Mike Teavee, a TV-obsessed boy. Each ticket winner is approached by a mysterious man shortly after their discovery. Charlie opens a Wonka Bar but finds no ticket, losing hope. News reports reveal that the fifth ticket has been found by Alberto Minoleta, a wealthy man from Paraguay.
