Description: Wild Tales is a 2014 Spanish-language film consisting of six distinct short stories. The segments are titled “Pasternak,” “Las ratas” (The Rats), “El más fuerte” (The Strongest), “Bombita” (Little Bomb), “La propuesta” (The Proposal), and “Hasta que la muerte nos separe” (Till Death Do Us Part). In the American version, some titles were altered, with “El más fuerte” becoming “Road to Hell” and “La propuesta” renamed “The Bill.”
The first segment, “Pasternak,” follows two airplane passengers who realize they both know a man named Gabriel Pasternak. As more passengers join the conversation, it becomes clear that everyone on the flight has a negative connection to Pasternak. Eventually, it is revealed that Pasternak is the cabin chief and has locked himself in the cockpit. Despite his former psychiatrist’s attempts to reason with him, Pasternak crashes the plane into his parents’ home.
In “Las ratas,” the story centers on a restaurant by a highway where a loan shark, the sole customer, mistreats the waitress. She recognizes him as the man who destroyed her family and caused her father’s death. The cook suggests poisoning the man’s food, which the waitress reluctantly rejects. However, the cook secretly adds the poison, and when the waitress discovers this, she chooses not to intervene.
