Description: Set in 1947 Los Angeles, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” revolves around the coexistence of animated characters, or “toons,” with real people. Toons star in theatrical cartoon shorts and live-action films while residing in Toontown. Once a successful private detective, Eddie Valiant, alongside his brother Teddy, worked closely with toons on various cases. However, after Teddy’s tragic death at the hands of a toon, Eddie spiraled into alcoholism, lost his sense of humor, and vowed never to work with toons again.
Maroon Cartoon Studios’ head, R.K. Maroon, hires Eddie to investigate rumors surrounding Roger Rabbit’s wife, Jessica, and her alleged affair with Marvin Acme, owner of Acme Corporation and Toontown. Eddie secretly photographs Jessica and Acme playing patty-cake, leading Roger to despair over his wife’s infidelity. The following morning, Acme is found dead at his factory, with evidence pointing to Roger as the primary suspect.
Eddie encounters Judge Doom, Toontown’s sinister judge, who wields a chemical called “The Dip,” capable of destroying toons. Meanwhile, Baby Herman, Roger’s co-star, believes in Roger’s innocence and suggests that Acme’s missing will, which grants Toontown’s ownership to the toons, might be the key to solving the murder. Eddie reluctantly helps Roger hide and learns from Jessica that Maroon manipulated her into posing for the photographs to blackmail Acme.
As Doom and his henchmen close in, Eddie and Roger escape with the help of Benny, a toon taxicab. During their journey, Eddie shares the story of his brother’s tragic death with Roger. They later discover that Maroon Cartoons has been sold to Cloverleaf Industries, a mysterious corporation linked to Acme’s murder and the city’s Pacific Electric transit system.
