Description: Benjamin Engel, a hacker from Berlin, finds himself in an interrogation room. He requests Hanne Lindberg, the head of Europol’s Cyber Division, to lead the questioning. Benjamin claims to possess critical information about FRI3NDS, a notorious hacking group linked to the Russian cyber mafia, and MRX, a legendary hacker on the Darknet. He offers to share details about both if Hanne agrees to listen to his story. Reluctantly, Hanne complies.
Benjamin compares himself to a superhero, noting his lack of parental support—his father left when he was born, and his mother tragically took her own life when he was eight. He lives with his ill grandmother and has always felt invisible due to his social awkwardness. His “superpower,” as he calls it, is his hacking skill, which he discovered at the age of 14. While he struggled in real life, he found purpose and belonging on the internet. On the Darknet, he encountered MRX, his idol, a mysterious hacker capable of breaching any system. Inspired, Benjamin aspired to emulate him.
Unable to pursue higher education, Benjamin worked as a pizza delivery driver to make ends meet. One evening, while delivering pizza to a group of students, he encountered Marie, a girl he had admired since his school days. Learning she was struggling with her exams, he decided to act as her “superhero.” He hacked into the university’s servers to retrieve exam questions but was caught by security and arrested. With no prior criminal record, he was sentenced to community service as punishment.
