During the chaos, Jack is exposed to the hazardous cloud while refueling his car. The Gladney family, along with others, is quarantined at a summer camp. Murray provides Jack with a small pistol for protection against aggressive survivalists.
Amid the chaos, the Gladneys attempt to escape but end up stranded in a river. After nine days, the family is released, but Jack’s brief exposure to the toxic substance intensifies his fear of death. While life eventually returns to normal, Babette becomes distant and unusually pale.
White Noise is a gripping tale of family, survival, and existential dread set against a catastrophic environmental disaster.
