Description: In 1896, during the Klondike Gold Rush, a young explorer named Jack Conroy travels from San Francisco to Alaska in search of his deceased father’s mining claim. Upon arrival, Jack meets two mushers, Clarence “Skunker” Thurston and Alex Larson, his father’s friend. Reluctantly, they agree to guide Jack to the claim in Yukon. During their journey, they are pursued by a large wolf pack. One night, a female wolf named Kiche lures one of their sled dogs, Digger, away from the camp. Skunker injures Kiche while attempting to save his dog but is killed by the wolf pack. Jack and Alex manage to scare off the wolves using burning branches.
The next morning, the wolves attack again, but the two men are rescued by another sled team, which kills one of the wolves. The injured wolf returns to her den, where she dies, leaving her cub alone. Jack and Alex continue their journey and settle in a town for the winter. Meanwhile, a group of Native Americans discovers the cub. Recognizing its mixed wolf and dog heritage, the chief names him White Fang.
As spring arrives, Jack and Alex resume their mission, stopping at the Native American settlement. The chief explains that White Fang has been trained to obey but not to be friendly. Jack is determined to change this. His opportunity arises when he is attacked by a grizzly bear. White Fang intervenes, saving Jack’s life. Grateful, Jack and Alex eventually leave the settlement, continuing their adventure.
