Genre: Comedy;Romance
Description: Nick Marshall, a Chicago-based advertising executive, grew up with his Las Vegas showgirl mother. Known for his chauvinistic tendencies, Nick excels at marketing products to men and charming women. He anticipates a promotion at Sloane Curtis, the advertising firm where he works, but his manager Dan surprises him by hiring Darcy McGuire to enhance the company’s appeal to female clients. Meanwhile, Nick’s 15-year-old daughter Alex stays with him while her mother Gigi is on her honeymoon with her new husband Ted. Nick embarrasses Alex with his overprotective behavior when meeting her 18-year-old boyfriend Cameron.
Darcy assigns the team, including Nick, to brainstorm advertising campaigns for a range of feminine products she introduces at a staff meeting. While testing some of these products at home, Nick accidentally electrocutes himself by falling into the bathtub with a hairdryer, leaving him unconscious. Upon waking up, he discovers he has gained the ability to hear women’s thoughts. This newfound skill reveals that many women, especially his colleagues, dislike him and view him as sleazy. He consults his former therapist, Dr. Perkins, who encourages him to use this ability to his advantage.
Nick begins using Darcy’s ideas as his own by eavesdropping on her thoughts, but he slowly develops feelings for her. Meanwhile, Alex harbors resentment toward Nick for years of neglect, but they start rebuilding their relationship while shopping for a prom dress. When Nick learns through his telepathic ability that Alex plans to have sex with Cameron on prom night, he tries to advise her, warning that Cameron is only interested in a physical relationship. Alex, however, interprets this as overprotectiveness and rejects his guidance.
