Description: Retired East End gangster Ritchie Archer returns to London from Spain to investigate the brutal murder of his brother, Charlie, by a local street gang called E2. Discovering that the police are either too incompetent or too afraid to handle the case, Ritchie and his old crew gather to pay their last respects and seek revenge. They begin by kidnapping associates of the gang’s leader, Aaron. During the interrogation, Ritchie suffers a heart attack and ends up in the hospital. The gangsters then use Lauren, the daughter of the investigating detective and a former associate of Aaron who witnessed Charlie’s murder, to lure the gang into attempting to kill Ritchie in his hospital bed. However, the seasoned gangsters are prepared. A violent shootout ensues, leaving several gang members dead or injured. Aaron threatens to kill Lauren unless the old gangsters surrender. They comply, but a fight breaks out between Ritchie and Aaron, leading to Aaron’s death when armed police arrive.
The movie’s epilogue shows the old gangsters at a private airport bidding farewell to Ritchie’s helicopter, only for Ritchie to unexpectedly join them. He references a past event from 1969 involving Charlie, with Roy adding “in Turin.” The film skillfully builds up its narrative, introducing a group of retired yet formidable gangsters led by the effortlessly cool Ritchie (Ian Ogilvy). Ritchie’s calm demeanor masks his capacity for ruthless violence, especially when provoked by the senseless murder of his brother. Despite their age, Ritchie and his team prove they still know how to deliver justice. James Cosmo’s portrayal of Arthur, a character who provides both comic relief and unexpected menace, nearly steals the show.
