Description: Vivah (2006) is a heartfelt Hindi film that tells the story of Poonam Mishra, a middle-class girl from a small town. After losing her parents at a young age, Poonam is raised by her uncle Krishnakant, who fills the role of a father. However, her aunt Rama harbors jealousy toward Poonam, as her own daughter Rajni is less fair and less beautiful in comparison. Meanwhile, Harishchandra, a wealthy businessman from New Delhi, has two sons: Sunil, who is married to Bhavna, and Prem, a soft-spoken and well-educated young man.
When Bhagatji, a jeweler and close friend of Krishnakant, is impressed by Poonam’s simplicity and warmth, he proposes her as a match for Prem. Initially, Prem hesitates, feeling too young for marriage and wanting to focus on his career. However, after being persuaded by his father, he agrees to meet Poonam. Despite an awkward first meeting, Prem and Poonam feel an instant connection and decide to get engaged, with the wedding set for six months later.
To help the couple bond, Krishnakant invites Prem’s family to their summer residence in Som Sarovar. During this time, Prem and Poonam experience the most romantic phase of their lives. Though they come from different backgrounds, they strive to build a meaningful relationship. With the support of their siblings, they grow closer, falling in love and cherishing the engagement rings they’ve exchanged as symbols of their commitment.
