Financing for the film was secured from various sources, including the Irish Film Board, Piccadilly Pictures, Sampsonic Media, and Lipsync Productions. Principal photography started in September 2017 in Dublin, Ireland. Protagonist Pictures handled international sales, and distribution rights were acquired for multiple countries.
“Vita & Virginia” had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2018. It was released in the United Kingdom on July 5, 2019, and in the United States on August 23, 2019. The film explores the complexities of love, art, and relationships in the context of the era.
