Description: Vishwaroopam, released in 2013, is a captivating film that begins in a modest pigeon shop in New York City. An elderly man tends to the pigeons and releases one, which soars high and lands near the office of a psychologist. The psychologist is in session with Nirupama, a nuclear oncologist, who shares details of her life. Nirupama reveals that her marriage to Vishwanath, also known as Viz, was one of convenience, allowing her to pursue her Ph.D. in the U.S. for the past three years. She finds Viz, a middle-aged Kathak teacher, effeminate and unappealing, developing an attraction to her boss, Deepankar instead.
Suspicious of her husband’s hidden life, Nirupama hires a private investigator to uncover information for a potential divorce. The investigator discovers that Viz is a Muslim. However, in an unexpected twist, the investigator is murdered by Farukh, a key member of Omar Qureshi’s cell. Farukh and his group then storm Nirupama’s home, taking both her and Viz hostage. Deepankar is later killed by Farukh’s men.
During their captivity, Viz shocks Nirupama by skillfully fighting off Farukh’s men, ultimately killing Farukh and escaping with his wife. The story shifts to reveal Viz’s past, tracing back to 2002 in Al-Qaeda training camps along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Viz’s true identity is Wizam Ahmad Kashmiri, a Tamil Jihadi in Kashmir with a ₹500,000 bounty on his head. Accepted into Omar’s team, Wizam becomes an Al-Qaeda trainer and a trusted confidant of Omar, weaving a complex tale of deception and survival.
