Description: Two high school sisters, Stacey and Emma, relocate to a suburban neighborhood in California. While Stacey quickly adapts, making new friends and dating a local boy named CJ, Emma struggles to fit in. She forms a bond with her neighbor, Evan. Meanwhile, their parents’ relationship is strained, and their mother is away. At school, Emma’s best friend Gracie starts acting strangely—overeating and coughing up blood—before collapsing in the parking lot. As Emma tries to help, Gracie vomits blood on another student.
Reports surface about a spreading “worm flu” in the area. The next day, their father leaves to pick up their mother from the airport but is blocked by government-imposed quarantine measures, trapping the girls in the town.
Unaware of the severity of the situation, Stacey drags Emma to a party, where she discovers CJ cheating on her. The boy from school, now visibly ill, attacks partygoers, coughing blood on Stacey before Evan rescues Emma. Stacey begins showing infection symptoms, including a grotesque growth on her neck and insatiable hunger.
The following day, their father instructs them to secure the house. That night, they witness their neighbor, Mr. Toomey, firing a flare gun. The military arrives, detaining Mr. Toomey and removing his infected wife.
