Description: Murali (Jayasurya) is an alcoholic who becomes a burden to his family and society. He deceives his wife and friends by taking money for emergencies, only to spend it on alcohol, often ending up drunk and sleeping outside. Due to his behavior, he is falsely accused of stealing a golden ring at an engagement, though later proven innocent. At a friend’s funeral, he causes a scene after misunderstanding the situation. To fuel his addiction, he even sells household furniture. While society views him negatively, some acknowledge his calm demeanor and hardworking nature.
One day, he meets an industrial worker friend who, upon learning of his addiction, takes him to a de-addiction center led by Dr. Subhramaniyam (Siddique). Despite the doctor’s efforts, Murali fails to cooperate, relapses into drinking, and confesses the tragic events of his life. The doctor reaches out to Murali’s estranged wife, emphasizing that Murali needs love and care as part of his recovery. After treatment, Murali returns home, only to find his family has moved away, leaving him feeling abandoned. Desperate, he attempts suicide by jumping into a well.
Rescued by locals, Dr. Subhramaniyam convinces Murali’s family to support him. Over time, Murali transforms his life, becoming a successful industrialist and the owner of Waterman Tiles, a major tile supplier in India and Africa. The film, a biopic, portrays the redemption of Murali Kunnumpurath, a once-outcast drunkard who reformed his life.
