Description: “Ved” (translated as “Madness”) is a 2022 Indian Marathi-language romantic drama directed by Riteish Deshmukh in his directorial debut. The film, produced by Genelia D’Souza, also stars both Deshmukh and D’Souza in lead roles, with Ashok Saraf and Jiya Shankar in supporting roles. It is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film “Majili.” The story revolves around Satya Jadhav, a young man from Mumbai who dreams of playing for the Indian cricket team. While pursuing his aspirations, he meets and falls in love with Nisha. However, their relationship is disrupted by Nisha’s strict father and unforeseen circumstances. After Nisha leaves, Satya spirals into depression and turns to alcohol, abandoning his cricket ambitions. Meanwhile, Shravani, Satya’s childhood neighbor who has always loved him, marries him out of sympathy for his pain. Despite their marriage, Satya remains emotionally distant, clinging to his memories of Nisha and relying on Shravani for financial support. Released theatrically on December 30, 2022, “Ved” received mixed reviews, with praise for the performances, cinematography, and music, but criticism for its slow-paced narrative. The film became the highest-grossing Marathi film of 2022, earning ₹75 crore (approximately $9.4 million). It is now available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar since April 28, 2023.
