Description: Varisu, released in 2023, tells the story of Vijay Rajendran, the youngest son of a wealthy businessman, Rajendran Palanisamy. Vijay is disowned by his family after refusing to join the family business, choosing instead to start his own food delivery venture. Seven years later, Rajendran is diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer and has only a few months left to live. Determined to secure the future of his company, he plans to appoint one of his two elder sons, Jai or Ajay, as the chairman during his 65th birthday celebration.
At the request of his mother, Sudha, Vijay returns home, only to find the family in turmoil. Jai is unfaithful to his wife, Aarthi, and neglects his family, including their teenage daughter, Ria. Meanwhile, Ajay is in deep debt to a financier named Mukesh and conspires to leak company secrets to his father’s rival, JP. The two brothers are constantly at odds, fighting to become their father’s successor.
During his stay, Vijay reconnects with Divya, Aarthi’s younger sister, who has harbored feelings for him since childhood. The two eventually grow closer. At Rajendran’s birthday celebration, JP and Mukesh expose the deceit of Jai and Ajay, leaving the family devastated. Aarthi decides to file for divorce, while Rajendran suffers the consequences of losing a crucial business deal due to Ajay’s betrayal.
Realizing his elder sons cannot be trusted, Rajendran turns to Vijay, who reluctantly agrees to take over the family business after learning of his father’s illness. Enraged, Jai and Ajay join forces with JP and Mukesh to undermine Vijay’s leadership. However, Vijay overcomes these challenges and successfully stabilizes the family business.
