**Storyline:**
It’s no secret that well-known actors like Nicolas Cage, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and even Guy Pearce have recently struggled in their careers, often taking roles primarily for the paycheck and putting in minimal effort. Surprisingly, Morgan Freeman has seemingly joined this trend with *Vanquish*, delivering what might be the laziest performance yet among these famous names. While Bruce Willis had it relatively easy standing still in cosplay armor battling generic creatures in *Cosmic Sin*, Morgan Freeman took it a step further by spending the film in a wheelchair, sleepwalking through his role as he guides Ruby Rose through a series of dull and poorly executed motorcycle chases and gunfights. These scenes hardly qualify as action, as Ruby Rose merely occasionally shoots someone—a feeble attempt by director George Gallo to pass off as excitement in this utterly incompetent film.
Gallo not only directed *Vanquish* but also co-wrote the script with Samuel Bartlett, and it’s difficult to decide which aspect is worse—the filmmaking or the dialogue. One particularly frustrating scene involves a phone conversation that cuts back and forth between characters at least 20 times in two minutes. This kind of jarring editing is reminiscent of the infamous fence-climbing sequence in one of the *Taken* movies, which featured an excessive number of cuts. Lines like “you have a reputation; I’ve heard you’ve killed more people than Quentin Tarantino” only add to the embarrassment.
