Description: Vampire Academy (2014) is a movie that follows the story of Rosemarie “Rose” Hathaway, a guardian in training, and Vasilisa “Lissa” Dragomir, a Moroi princess. After fleeing their school, St. Vladimir’s Academy, two years earlier, they are brought back by guardian Dimitri Belikov, who leads the retrieval team. Dimitri is assigned as Lissa’s guardian and offers to mentor Rose in her training. He believes Rose has the potential to become an exceptional guardian for Lissa due to a rare one-sided psychic bond that allows Rose to sense Lissa’s thoughts, emotions, and location. Rose agrees to the mentorship, knowing it’s the only way she can remain at the academy and eventually become Lissa’s guardian after graduation.
Lissa possesses a unique healing ability but struggles with self-harm when she becomes depressed. She befriends Christian Ozera, an outcast Moroi student, whom Rose dislikes, primarily because his parents chose to become Strigoi. The two girls face bullying from Mia, a non-royal student, and her royal friends, who hold a grudge against Lissa’s brother.
During their time at the academy, Rose uses her bond with Lissa to discover that she has been kidnapped. Rose escapes her confinement to alert Dimitri, but they are briefly distracted by a lust charm planted by Victor Dashkov, a close uncle-figure to Lissa and father of her roommate and friend, Natalie Dashkov. After Dimitri disposes of the charm, Rose leads a rescue team to the kidnapper’s hideout, where Christian secretly joins them.
The guardians successfully rescue Lissa from Victor, her kidnapper, and she heals Christian after he is severely injured during the confrontation. Following this incident, Lissa accepts Christian as her boyfriend. Dimitri confesses his feelings for Rose but explains that their relationship is impossible due to their age difference, his role as her mentor, and his duty to protect Lissa. His love for Rose could compromise his ability to fulfill his responsibilities.
