**Storyline:**
An elderly Krishnan returns home after a haircut, suddenly vomits blood, and passes away. His son Suriya, who is on a rescue mission to Kashmir, learns of this tragic news and begins reminiscing about the past.
In the 1970s, Krishnan and Malini meet at Madras Christian College, eventually marrying and welcoming their son Suriya a year later. Over time, Krishnan and Suriya develop a friendship that goes beyond the traditional father-son relationship. After completing his mechanical engineering studies in Trichy, Suriya meets Meghna on a train journey home and instantly falls for her. However, Meghna is skeptical of love at first sight and soon leaves for California to pursue her master’s degree.
Meanwhile, Krishnan suffers his first heart attack, prompting Suriya to take on more responsibility for his family. He starts a design firm with friends and performs in concerts to earn money. With his sister’s help, Suriya fulfills his father’s dream of building a home. Later, on Krishnan’s advice, Suriya travels to San Francisco to reconnect with Meghna.
Though surprised by Suriya’s boldness, Meghna allows him to stay with her, and they grow closer. Convinced Suriya is the right partner, Meghna proposes to him, bringing joy to both families. Shortly after, she leaves for Oklahoma City for a project, but tragedy strikes when she becomes a victim of the Oklahoma City bombing.
Overwhelmed by grief, Suriya decides to return to India. On the way, he meets businessman Shankar Menon, who offers him comfort and encouragement. Back home, Suriya struggles to move on from Meghna’s loss, even as he reconnects with friends and meets his sister’s friend, Priya. Falling into a dark phase, Suriya turns to drugs, but with his parents’ support, he eventually overcomes his addiction.
In an attempt to heal, Suriya embarks on a trip to Kashmir. While there, he learns that Aditya, Shankar Menon’s son, has been kidnapped in Delhi. This sets him on a new path as he prepares to take on the rescue mission.
