Description: Police violence remains a major cause of death for young men in the United States. Statistically, approximately 1 in every 1,000 Black men is likely to be killed by law enforcement during their lifetime. The risk of police-related fatalities is highest for individuals aged 20 to 35, affecting both men and women across all racial and ethnic groups. Black men and women, as well as American Indian and Alaska Native individuals, face significantly higher risks of being killed by police compared to their white counterparts. Additionally, Latino men are more vulnerable to police violence than white men. These disparities highlight the ongoing challenges and systemic issues surrounding law enforcement practices in the country.
