Description: The film Uri: The Surgical Strike, released in 2019, is divided into five chapters. The first chapter begins with a June 2015 ambush on an Indian Army convoy in Chandel, Manipur, by NSCN(K) militants. In response, Major Vihaan Singh Shergill, a Para SF officer played by Vicky Kaushal, leads his unit, including his brother-in-law Major Karan Kashyap, to infiltrate and eliminate the militants, successfully killing their leader. After the mission, the Prime Minister of India honors Vihaan and his team during a formal dinner. Vihaan requests early retirement to care for his mother, who suffers from severe Alzheimer’s. Instead of granting his request, the Prime Minister offers him a desk job in New Delhi, closer to his mother, which he accepts.
The second chapter follows Vihaan as he transitions to his new role at the Integrated Defence Staff HQ in New Delhi and spends time with his family. This section also touches on the Pathankot attack. A nurse named Jasmine D’Almeida, portrayed by Yami Gautam, is assigned to care for Vihaan’s mother. Vihaan meets Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur, played by Kirti Kulhari, an Indian Air Force pilot seeking to honor her late husband, an army officer who died in an ambush. One day, Vihaan’s mother goes missing. While searching for her, he blames Jasmine for negligence and dismisses her from her duties. However, Jasmine later reveals herself as an intelligence agent. The film explains that families of special forces soldiers were provided security due to threats from North-eastern militants.
