Description: “Upside Down” (2012) is a captivating film set in a unique world featuring two planets with “dual gravity,” allowing them to orbit each other in close proximity. Three fundamental laws govern this system: all matter is only pulled by the gravity of its originating world, an object’s weight can be offset using matter from the opposite world, and after prolonged contact, inverse matter burns. These planets are starkly divided—the upper world (Up Top) thrives in prosperity, while the lower world (Down Below) struggles in poverty. Up Top exploits Down Below by purchasing cheap oil and selling electricity at inflated prices. Interaction between the two societies is strictly forbidden, with severe punishments for violators. The only official link between them is the headquarters of the “TransWorld” corporation.
The story follows Adam, an orphan from Down Below, whose life revolves around his great-aunt and her secret flying pancake recipe, which uses pollen from pink bees that exist in both worlds. As a child, Adam sneaks to a mountain near Up Top, where he encounters Eden, a girl from the upper world. Their forbidden friendship blossoms until they are discovered, leading to a tragic incident where Eden is seemingly killed, and Adam’s aunt is arrested.
A decade later, Adam develops an anti-gravity cosmetic product that manipulates gravitational fields. After spotting Eden alive on television, he devises a plan to reconnect with her by securing a job at TransWorld. Along the way, he befriends Bob, an employee from Up Top, who aids Adam in his quest to reunite with Eden.
