Description: Set in the distant future, Grey Trace, a mechanic, lives with his wife Asha in a technology-driven home. Asha works for a tech company named Cobalt. Grey takes Asha to meet his client, Eron Keen, who introduces them to a groundbreaking computer chip called **Stem**, poised to revolutionize science and medicine.
On their way home, Grey and Asha attempt to be intimate while their self-driving car takes an unexpected detour through Grey’s old neighborhood, seemingly hacked. The car crashes near a junkyard, leaving them injured. They are attacked by four assailants led by Fisk, who shoots Asha while another goon injures Grey’s spine. Asha dies as Grey helplessly watches.
Grey becomes a quadriplegic and struggles to adapt to his new reality with the help of his mother, Pamela. Detective Cortez investigates the attack but struggles to identify the culprits despite surveillance footage.
Later, Eron offers Grey a chance to walk again by implanting Stem in his back. Initially hesitant, Grey agrees after Eron reminds him that Asha would have wanted him to regain his mobility. Grey undergoes the procedure and signs a non-disclosure agreement to keep Stem’s existence confidential.
