Description: In the 2008 thriller *Untraceable*, FBI Special Agent Jennifer Marsh, a widowed single mother, lives in suburban Portland with her daughter and mother. She works in the FBI’s cybercrime division alongside Griffin Dowd, tackling identity theft and related crimes. One night, an anonymous tip leads them to a disturbing website called KillWithMe.com, which streams videos of torture, starting with a cat. The site is designed to be untraceable; every time it’s shut down, a mirror server immediately takes its place.
The webmaster escalates to human victims, kidnapping them and subjecting them to deadly traps activated by the site’s increasing traffic. The first victim, a helicopter pilot, dies from anticoagulant injections, followed by a newscaster burned alive by heat lamps. Despite public warnings to avoid the site, its popularity only grows.
Griffin becomes a victim after investigating a lead on the killer’s identity. He is kidnapped and submerged in a vat of sulfuric acid, but in his final moments, he blinks a Morse code message, providing the FBI with a crucial clue.
*Untraceable* is a gripping tale of cybercrime, obsession, and the dark side of the internet.
