Description: Martin Harris, played by Liam Neeson, and his wife Liz, portrayed by January Jones, travel to Berlin for a biotechnology summit. Upon arriving at their hotel, Harris realizes he left his briefcase at the airport and takes a taxi to retrieve it. The taxi is involved in an accident and plunges into the Spree River, leaving Harris unconscious. The driver rescues him but flees the scene. Harris awakens in a hospital after being in a coma for four days.
When Harris returns to the hotel, he finds Liz with another man, played by Aidan Quinn. Liz claims she doesn’t know Harris and insists the other man is her husband. The police are called, and Harris tries to prove his identity by contacting a colleague named Rodney Cole, but fails. He writes down his schedule for the next day from memory. When he visits the office of Professor Leo Bressler, whom he is supposed to meet, another man claiming to be Dr. Harris is already there. This imposter provides identification and a family photo, both featuring his face instead of Harris’s. Overwhelmed by the identity crisis, Harris loses consciousness and wakes up back at the hospital. A terrorist named Smith kills Harris’s nurse, but Harris manages to escape.
Harris seeks help from private investigator and former Stasi agent Ernst Jürgen. His only clues are his father’s book on botany and Gina, the taxi driver, played by Diane Krueger, an undocumented Bosnian immigrant working at a diner since the accident. With Gina’s assistance, Harris begins to piece together the mystery. Jürgen investigates further and discovers that the biotechnology summit is being attended by Prince Shada of Saudi Arabia, who has survived multiple assassination attempts. The prince is funding a secret project led by Bressler, leading Jürgen to suspect that Harris’s identity theft is connected to these events.
