**Storyline:**
Frances Mayes, a writer from San Francisco, faces a sudden upheaval in her seemingly perfect life when she discovers her husband’s infidelity. After a difficult divorce, where she loses her home to her ex-husband and his new, much younger, pregnant partner, Frances falls into a deep depression and struggles to write. Her best friend, Patti, a soon-to-be mother, worries Frances may never recover and encourages her to take a trip to Tuscany using a ticket Patti can no longer use. Initially reluctant, Frances eventually agrees, hoping to escape her gloomy reality.
During her tour in Tuscany, Frances stumbles upon the charming town of Cortona. While wandering its streets, she notices a for-sale sign for a villa. Later, her tour bus stops outside Cortona to let a flock of sheep pass, and she realizes they’ve paused right in front of the same villa she had seen earlier. Viewing this as a sign, Frances decides to explore further and, through a series of fortunate events, becomes the owner of the rundown yet beautiful villa.
As Frances begins her new life, she encounters a mix of fascinating and kind-hearted individuals. She hires a group of Polish immigrants to renovate the villa and gradually forms meaningful connections with her Italian neighbors, the realtor who sold her the property, and Katherine, an eccentric British actress reminiscent of an Italian film star. Later, her friend Patti, now heavily pregnant after being left by her partner, visits her in Tuscany.
Through her journey, Frances rediscovers herself, embraces new beginnings, and finds unexpected joy in her life under the Tuscan sun.
