Genre: 4K-2160p;Horror;Mystery
Description: Amanda and her daughter lead a peaceful life on an American farm. However, their tranquillity is disrupted when the remains of Amanda’s estranged mother arrive from Korea. Amanda begins to fear that she might become like her mother. In the film “Umma,” Amanda, played by Sandra Oh from “Killing Eve,” lives a secluded life with her teenage daughter, Chris, on a remote bee farm. Their only interaction is with a friendly local who helps them sell honey online in exchange for Amanda’s bookkeeping services. Surprisingly, they live without electricity, claiming it makes Amanda physically ill, hinting at her troubled past.
Amanda’s past catches up with her when her uncle delivers her mother’s cremated remains. Soon, Amanda starts seeing her mother’s ghost, while Chris becomes increasingly frustrated with her mother’s overprotectiveness. Chris secretly explores college options, which Amanda views as a betrayal. The conflict between them is depicted in a rather exaggerated manner, making it hard to take seriously. Subtler tensions might have added more depth to their relationship.
