U-Turn is a 2023 Indian supernatural thriller film written and directed by Pawan Kumar. Produced by Srinivasa Chitturi and Rambabu Bandaru under BR8 Creations, V. Y. Combines, and Srinivasa Silver Screen, the film explores a gripping plot centered around the mysterious deaths of motorists who violate a traffic rule at a specific flyover. The story follows an intern journalist and a police inspector as they team up to uncover the truth behind these incidents.
Filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, U-Turn is a remake of the director’s 2016 Kannada film of the same name. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Samantha, Aadhi Pinisetty, Bhumika Chawla, and Rahul Ravindran. Principal photography began in February 2018 and concluded in June. The film is unique for its lack of songs, with a background score by Poornachandra Tejaswi and a promotional track by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematography was handled by Niketh Bommireddy, and editing by Suresh Arumugam.
The narrative focuses on Rachana, an intern at *The Times of India*, who is writing an article about recurring incidents at the flyover. She seeks help from crime reporter Aditya, for whom she harbors a crush, to gather research material on the accidents. A homeless man stationed at the flyover records the vehicle numbers of those violating the U-turn rule and shares the list with Rachana. Using her contacts in the traffic department, she identifies the culprits, intending to confront them and write an exposé.
However, her plan takes a dark turn when the police arrest her, accusing her of murdering one of the individuals on her list. Shocked and desperate, Rachana must prove her innocence while unraveling the sinister truth behind the flyover’s deadly curse.
