Description: In the 2016 movie *U.S. Marshals*, two Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agents are killed during an attempt to intercept a briefcase exchange in a United Nations parking garage in New York City. The incident is captured on a security camera, but the criminal escapes with classified information.
Months later, U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard and his team apprehend the Conroy Brothers and their families at their home, celebrating their success after seeing it reported on the news. Meanwhile, tow truck driver Mark Warren is arrested in Chicago for illegal weapons possession following a car crash. After a brief hospitalization, a fingerprint check reveals his true identity: federal fugitive Mark Roberts, wanted for murder. That night, Roberts is placed on a prisoner transport aircraft to New York, sharing the flight with Gerard, who is escorting unrelated prisoners.
During the flight, Roberts prevents an assassination attempt by a prisoner armed with an improvised weapon. However, a bullet shatters a window, causing depressurization and killing the prisoner and another marshal. The pilots attempt an emergency landing but crash into the Ohio River in southern Illinois. Gerard helps rescue the survivors but discovers Roberts has escaped.
Eight hours later, DSS Special Agent John Royce joins Gerard’s team to hunt Roberts, though Gerard is skeptical of Royce’s assistance. Roberts narrowly escapes law enforcement in a swamp in Kentucky and heads to New York City. There, he obtains money, weapons, and fake identification from a former Marine. Roberts then begins surveilling a Chinese diplomat named Xiang Chen.
