Description: In the small Norwegian town of Skoddeheimen, 15-year-old Alma navigates her sexual awakening. Secretly, she indulges in phone sex and fantasizes about a boy from school named Artur. At a party, Artur approaches her, exposes himself, and pokes her with his erect penis. Overwhelmed, Alma retreats to masturbate, then shares the incident with her friends, who react with disbelief. Artur denies the encounter, leading to Alma being ostracized and branded with the nickname “Dick Alma.”
When Alma’s mother discovers the excessive phone bill, she confronts Alma about the calls. Alma admits to engaging in phone sex due to her hypersexuality and promises to repay the costs by taking a part-time job at a convenience store. However, she gets into trouble for stealing a pornographic magazine, further straining her relationship with her mother. Facing relentless bullying at school, Alma briefly runs away but eventually returns home.
Later, Alma confronts Artur, who admits to the incident but denies being sexually attracted to her. To make amends, he publicly confirms the truth and expresses romantic interest. Alma introduces Artur to her mother, and they share a meal together.
Director Jannicke Systad Jacobsen, inspired by the novel’s popularity in Norway, aimed to capture the teenage experience, where minor events feel monumental. The film was cast in a town similar to the story’s setting, with young actors receiving lessons and limited access to the screenplay to maintain authenticity.
