Description: In the 2010 film *True Grit*, 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) seeks justice after her father is murdered by Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin) during a trip to Fort Smith, Arkansas. Determined to bring Chaney to justice, Mattie approaches the local sheriff, who reveals that Chaney has likely escaped into Indian Territory with outlaw “Lucky” Ned Pepper (Barry Pepper) and his gang. Unable to pursue Chaney himself, the sheriff suggests three U.S. Marshals, and Mattie selects the toughest one, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges). Initially reluctant, Cogburn eventually agrees to help after Mattie raises the necessary funds through shrewd horse-trading.
Meanwhile, Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon) arrives in town, seeking Chaney for the murder of a Texas senator. LaBoeuf proposes joining forces with Cogburn, but Mattie refuses, insisting that Chaney face justice in Arkansas for her father’s death, not in Texas. Despite her protests, Cogburn and LaBoeuf leave without her, planning to capture Chaney and split the reward. Determined, Mattie catches up to them but is spanked by LaBoeuf for her defiance. This incident, along with other disagreements, leads Cogburn to end his partnership with LaBoeuf, who then pursues Chaney alone.
Cogburn and Mattie continue their search and encounter two outlaws, Quincy and Moon, at a remote dugout. After a confrontation, Quincy stabs Moon, prompting Cogburn to shoot Quincy. Before dying, Moon reveals that Ned Pepper’s gang will arrive at the dugout later that night for supplies. The story follows Mattie’s relentless pursuit of justice and the challenges she faces alongside the hardened Marshal Cogburn.
