Description: “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is a 2023 American science fiction action film inspired by Hasbro’s Transformers toy line, drawing heavily from the Beast Wars narrative. Serving as the seventh installment in the Transformers live-action series, it acts as both a standalone sequel to “Bumblebee” (2018) and a prequel to “Transformers” (2007). Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the screenplay was written by Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber. The film features Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback in the lead roles, alongside the voice talents of Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Pete Davidson, Michelle Yeoh, and others. Returning franchise voices include Peter Cullen, John DiMaggio, and David Sobolov.
The story follows Noah Diaz and Elena Wallace as they team up with the Autobots and the Maximals to stop the planet-devouring Transformer, Unicron. They face the Terrorcons and an army of Predacon scorpions led by Scourge, who are determined to acquire the Transwarp Key.
After the success of “Bumblebee,” Paramount Pictures and Hasbro announced a sequel in early 2019. Caple was brought on as director in November 2020, with Ramos and Fishback cast in 2021. Michael Bay, who directed the first five Transformers films and produced “Bumblebee,” returned as a producer. Filming took place from June to October 2021 in locations such as Los Angeles, Peru, Montreal, and New York City.
The film premiered in Singapore on May 27, 2023, and was released in the U.S. on June 9, 2023. It received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $407 million globally against a budget of $195–200 million. An animated prequel, “Transformers: One,” set on Cybertron, is scheduled for release in September 2024.
