**Storyline:**
MI6 dispatches Agent 007, James Bond, on a mission to investigate an arms bazaar near the Russian border. Despite M’s instructions to complete his reconnaissance, Admiral Roebuck of the Royal Navy orders the frigate HMS *Chester* to launch a missile at the bazaar. Bond discovers two nuclear torpedoes on an L-39 Albatros aircraft and is forced to pilot it away moments before the missile destroys the site.
Media mogul Elliot Carver initiates a plan to provoke a war between China and the UK. Using an encoder acquired at the bazaar by his hacker associate Henry Gupta, Carver manipulates GPS signals to redirect the frigate HMS *Devonshire* into Chinese waters. Carver’s stealth ship, commanded by Mr. Stamper, ambushes and sinks the *Devonshire*, steals a missile, and frames China by using Chinese ammunition to eliminate survivors.
Following the incident, the British Minister of Defense demands immediate retaliation, leaving M just 48 hours to investigate and prevent an all-out war. Suspicion falls on Carver when he publishes news about the crisis before the Vietnamese government is even informed.
Bond is sent to Hamburg to uncover Carver’s involvement. There, he reconnects with Carver’s wife, Paris, who is also his former lover, to gain access to Carver’s newspaper headquarters. Bond successfully thwarts Carver’s plans, defeating Stamper’s men and disrupting the media mogul’s satellite network broadcast.
