Description: In 1879, a notorious outlaw gang called the Cowboys, led by Curly Bill Brocius, storms a Mexican town during a local police officer’s wedding. Seeking revenge for the deaths of two gang members, they slaughter the gathered policemen. Before his death, a priest warns them that their brutal actions will be avenged, invoking the biblical fourth horseman.
Wyatt Earp, a retired peace officer with a strong reputation, reunites with his brothers Virgil and Morgan in Tucson, Arizona. They head to Tombstone to establish a new life. There, they meet Wyatt’s old friend Doc Holliday, who is in Tombstone hoping the dry climate will ease his worsening tuberculosis. Josephine Marcus and Mr. Fabian also arrive with a traveling theater group. Meanwhile, Wyatt’s common-law wife, Mattie Blaylock, becomes increasingly dependent on laudanum.
As the Earp brothers begin to profit from their investment in a gambling emporium and saloon, they clash with the Cowboys. Tensions escalate, and Wyatt is pressured to help rid Tombstone of the gang, even though he is no longer a lawman. After a visit to an opium den, Curly Bill starts shooting recklessly and kills Marshal Fred White when confronted. Wyatt arrests Curly Bill, but the trial ends in acquittal due to a lack of witnesses. Virgil becomes the new marshal and enforces a weapons ban, leading to the infamous gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Billy Clanton and the McLaury brothers are killed, while Virgil and Morgan are wounded. The event reveals the Cowboys’ alliance with county sheriff Johnny Behan.
