The story begins two years after the events of Sokovia, where Thor is captured by the fiery demon Surtur. Surtur reveals that Thor’s father, Odin, is no longer in Asgard and foretells the impending doom of Ragnarök, a catastrophic event that will destroy Asgard unless Surtur merges his crown with the Eternal Flame. Thor escapes, defeats Surtur, and takes his crown, believing he has averted Ragnarök.
Returning to Asgard, Thor discovers that Heimdall is missing and that Loki has been impersonating Odin. After uncovering Loki’s deception, Thor forces him to help locate their father. Guided by Stephen Strange in New York, they find Odin in Norway. Odin reveals that his death is near, Ragnarök is inevitable, and his passing will release his firstborn, Hela, from her long imprisonment. Hela, once the leader of Asgard’s armies, was imprisoned by Odin for her growing ambition and power. As Odin dies, Hela appears, destroys Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, and pursues Thor and Loki, forcing them into space while she takes over Asgard.
Hela defeats Asgard’s army, kills the Warriors Three, and revives her ancient allies, including her giant wolf, Fenris. She plans to expand Asgard’s empire using the Bifröst, but Heimdall intervenes, stealing the Bifröst’s control sword and hiding Asgardians for their safety. Meanwhile, Thor lands on Sakaar, a planet surrounded by wormholes, where he is captured by a slave trader named Scrapper 142 and sold to the planet’s ruler, the Grandmaster. Loki has already ingratiated himself with the Grandmaster. Thor discovers that Scrapper 142 is actually a Valkyrie, one of the legendary warriors who fought Hela long ago. Thor is forced into the Grandmaster’s gladiatorial games, where he faces his old friend, the Hulk.
The film is packed with action, humor, and a star-studded cast, making it a must-watch for Marvel fans.
