**Plot Summary:**
A homeless wanderer known as “Nada” (meaning “nothing” in Spanish) arrives in Los Angeles looking for work. While wandering the streets, he encounters a street preacher warning that an elite group, manipulated by powerful forces, is controlling humanity. Nada secures a job at a construction site and befriends a co-worker named Frank, who invites him to stay at a shantytown soup kitchen run by a man named Gilbert.
One night, a hacker interrupts television broadcasts, revealing that scientists have detected signals enslaving the population and keeping them in a dream-like state. The hacker urges viewers to shut off the signal at its source. Those watching the broadcast experience severe headaches. Nada follows Gilbert and the street preacher to a nearby church, where he discovers a secret meeting involving the hacker and others. He overhears concerns that the “Hoffman lenses” they’ve created won’t be effective without strong allies. Nada is caught by the preacher but manages to escape.
Shortly after, the shantytown and church are raided by the police, resulting in the destruction of both. The hacker and preacher are brutally beaten. The next day, Nanda retrieves a box from the church and takes a pair of sunglasses from it. He soon realizes that when worn, the glasses reveal a monochromatic world filled with subliminal messages urging consumption, conformity, and reproduction. More shockingly, the glasses expose that many individuals are actually alien beings with skull-like faces.
After mocking an alien woman at a supermarket, Nada is confronted by alien police officers. He kills them, steals their weapons, and heads to a bank, where he discovers that many employees and customers are also aliens.
