Description: In 1891, in the depths of the forest, Ben Talbot falls victim to a wolf-like creature. His brother, Lawrence Talbot, a Shakespearean actor, returns home after receiving a message from Ben’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe, about Ben’s mysterious disappearance. Reuniting with his estranged father, Sir John, Lawrence learns that Ben’s mutilated body has already been discovered. At a local pub, townsfolk speculate about the attack, blaming either a wild animal or the nearby Romani encampment. Some even mention a similar murder 25 years earlier, where a werewolf was the suspected killer. As Lawrence explores his ancestral home, he is haunted by flashbacks of his childhood, recalling his mother Solana’s apparent suicide and his father’s presence at the scene. Following this trauma, Lawrence spent a year in Lambeth Hospital in London, treated for delusions tied to the event.
During a full moon, Lawrence visits the Romani camp, which is then raided by townspeople accusing them of harboring a dangerous bear. As chaos erupts, a werewolf attacks, killing several people and biting Lawrence before fleeing. A Romani woman named Maleva tends to Lawrence’s injuries, but others insist he must be killed to prevent future harm. Maleva refuses, stating that only a loved one can free him from the curse.
Lawrence soon recovers with unnatural speed, gaining heightened senses and vitality. Inspector Francis Aberline arrives to investigate, suspecting Lawrence due to his troubled past. Fearing he might harm Gwen, Lawrence sends her away to London. He confronts his father at Solana’s crypt, where Sir John delivers a cryptic warning before locking himself away. That night, Lawrence undergoes a painful transformation into a werewolf, escaping into the woods and slaughtering a group of hunters.
