Description: The Witch: Part 2. The Other One is a 2022 South Korean science fiction action horror film, directed and written by Park Hoon-jung. This sequel to the 2018 film *The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion* features Shin Si-ah, Jo Min-su, and Park Eun-bin in leading roles. Released on June 15, 2022, by Next Entertainment World, the film quickly became a box office success, debuting at number one in South Korea. It achieved one million admissions within four days and reached two million admissions in eleven days. By 2022, it became the second highest-grossing Korean film, earning $22.11 million and attracting 2.80 million viewers.
The story follows a girl who escapes from a secret laboratory known as the Ark. She encounters siblings Kyung-hee and Dae-gil, who befriend her. However, various characters with different motives begin searching for her. The film’s plot continues the narrative established in the first installment.
Shin Si-ah secured the lead role after an intense audition process in the summer of 2020, outperforming 1,408 other candidates. Lee Jong-suk also joined the cast, marking his return to acting after completing his military service. Warner Bros. Korea, the license holder, partnered with Next Entertainment World for this project. The original crew from *The Witch: Part 1* reunited for this sequel, including cinematographer Kim Young-ho and martial arts director Kim Jung-min. Park Eun-bin returned to the big screen after a nine-year hiatus since her last film in 2013.
Filming commenced in late December 2020 and concluded on April 19, 2021. Key scenes were shot on Jeju Island, specifically at Jeju Stone Culture Park and the Glass House in Seopjikoji, locations that were also featured in the first film’s ending. *The Witch: Part 2* continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling storyline and impressive performances.
