**Storyline:**
Entrepreneur Balram Halwai emails Wen Jiabao, requesting a meeting and sharing his life story. He describes how India’s underclass is trapped in a cycle of servitude, likened to chickens confined in a coop.
As a child in Laxmangarh, Balram earns a scholarship to a school in Delhi due to his exceptional academic abilities. He is hailed as a “white tiger,” a rare individual who emerges once in a generation. However, when his father cannot repay the village landlord, known as The Stork, Balram’s grandmother forces him to work at the local tea house, ending his education.
As an adult, Balram dreams of becoming a chauffeur for The Stork’s son, Ashok, who returns from the United States with his New York-raised wife, Pinky. Balram secures the role of the family’s second driver and manipulates his way into becoming Ashok and Pinky’s primary driver in Delhi. While the couple treats Balram better than other family members, they still see him as a servant.
On Pinky’s birthday, she and Ashok drink excessively, and Pinky accidentally hits and kills a child while driving. The family forces Balram to take the blame, leaving him deeply shaken. After Pinky leaves Ashok, Balram becomes his emotional support but begins exploiting him by submitting fake repair bills and using Ashok’s car as an unlicensed taxi.
Balram’s grandmother unexpectedly sends his nephew to live with him, intending for the boy to become a driver like Balram. This, along with the discovery that Ashok plans to replace him, triggers a turning point. Balram murders Ashok, steals a large sum of bribe money meant for politicians, and flees the city with his nephew. Despite an arrest warrant, Balram manages to evade capture.
